Glenn Gault Jr  raced in both the Main Event Racing Series and The NASCAR Whelen Series at Lake Erie Speedway and after  a busy and physically exhausting night ended with a top 5 finish in both series.

Glenn Jr. started out with some practice in the #6 Oakley Blacktop Outlaw Late Model but was only able to get in one practice session in his first time in the car when rain and a severe storm came through not only altering the NASCAR Whelen Series Schedule but putting Glenn Jr. in a position to qualify a new type of race car that he only had just a few laps of practice to accomplish both the setup and his getting comfortable with the feel of the race car. After the the thunder, lightning,  and torrential rain came the rainbows and the track drying but the racing did go on.

Glenn Jr.  stepped up to the challenge in the field of regulars and qualified the #6 in the 9th position with a fast time of 14.93  on his lap of record.

Glenn started the  100 lap race in the 9th position  with the first 18 of them going caution free. Glenn Jr.  had worked his way up to the 5th place in the field and restarted there  on lap 19 after the first caution.  The next caution flag came on lap 51 and Glenn was holding strong on the 5th position. The third caution came on lap 81  for the #71 which was in front of Glenn in the running so going back to green Glenn was now 4th. It was now hammer down to the finish and Glenn really raced hard with the #28 for the third position  all the way to the checkered.  Glenn stepped from the #6 Oakley Outlaw Late Model drenched in sweat but happy with the 4th place finish. After such  short prep time and virtually no seat time in the car it was great to get a top 5 finish in his first time out. He is very thankful for the opportunity to be able to drive the car.

However even though it was now around midnight Glenn’s job was not over. He made his way over to his #32 Snow King Mobile Home Roofs/ Gault Heating Inc. Chevy Impala that was in line in the tech barn. The crew brought him plenty of gatorade to rehydrate him and  then he took his place in the line up to start 9th for the feature.

Starting 9th  the caution flag was displayed before a full lap was complete.  Back to green and Glenn went to work until the next caution on lap 8. Glenn had gained 4 positions and was now 5th. At the green Glenn went back to work again and had the third position on lap 10. Still working on charging toward the front, he was clear by 10 on lap 17 of the person behind him. With plenty of green flag racing Glenn kept gaining on the leaders and  by lap 34 Glenn was within a car length of the the first and second place cars. The last caution came on lap 38 with two laps left. On the green Glenn gave it  hard run but finished third.

It was a good night and with the points lead still close in sight Glenn Jr and the team were exhausted but happy with the night.  They will be back at the track next Saturday July 5th at Lake Erie and ready to race hard for the win.

Race day came again on Saturday June 21st for Glenn Gault Jr and the #32 Snow King/Gault Heating Inc. Late Model racing team.   Twin features were on the schedule for the night. After some long anticipation in the pit area during the celebration on track for Lake Erie of their 6th Birthday, Glenn Jr took the track and got the race cut short by Mother Nature.   In the short 16 laps 4 cautions were displayed one lengthy caution on lap one involving several cars that Glenn narrowly missed.  Glenn started from 12th position and finished in 3rd at the red flag. The next race is Saturday June 28th at Lake Erie Speedway.

Glenn Gault Jr. and the team headed by his Dad Glenn Gault Sr. took the #32 Snow King/Gault Heating Inc Chevy to Victory Lane on Father’s Day weekend at Lake Erie Speedway in both the Heat and Feature earning maximum points for the night.

Rain had cleared out of the area just in time to get in three rounds of practice on the track under now sunny skies. Glenn used the first session for his adjustments and get the car dialed in for the Heat race. The next sessions were fine tuning those and working on tire scuffing.

Glenn started the heat race from the fifth position and right after the drop of the green flag on lap one the caution was already out. Glenn had taken 3 spots in that lap and restarted in 2nd.  He promptly went to the lead on the restart on lap 2 but lap 3 caution was back out again.  On the green and back to racing Glenn pulled away from the rest of the field and by lap 4 he was clear by 8 car lengths on the 2nd place car.  At the white flag he was clear by a staightaway on the 2nd place car.  He took the checkered as the winner saying the car was good just a little snug.

The feature race started a little after 9PM and Glenn was starting in 8th position.  The field took the green double file and raced to lap 5 when the first caution was out.  Glenn had gained one spot  and went back to work at the green and maintained it through the next caution on lap 13 and lap 18 when the call was sent to change to single file restarts.  Two laps later another caution was displayed and Glenn held his spot in 7th. By the caution on lap 25 Glenn Jr. had moved up to 5th but now that he could see the lead that is what he wanted. So at the green with true determination, one at a time Glenn picked up positions. He had 3rd by lap 31 and the lead by lap 38. All he had left to do was make laps and bring it home. That he did!  Wishing a Happy Father’s Day to his dad and to all the Fathers in the stands as he stood in Victory Lane during the Lake Erie Speedway interview with the track announcer.

So big congratulations to Glenn  Jr & Jessica., Glenn Sr & Rosalyn, Brian Smusz, and Ken Tanner the crew at the track, as well as Uncle Sonny , Fast Eddy & Karen .  The stars have aligned at least for tonight and all the fans of the #32 are celebrating!! The next chance to see the team in action is Saturday June 21st at Lake Erie Speedway when Glenn Jr. will be back racing for the win “at the track.”

June 7, 2008

The #32 Snow King/Gault Heating Late Model racing team with driver Glenn Gault Jr. had a challenging night of racing at Lake Erie’s Fan Appreciation night with a 3rd place finish in their Heat Race and a hard fought 7th place finish in the feature.

Glenn started 5th in the 3rd of the three Heat races to be run in the NASCAR Whelen Late Model Series for Lake Erie. The Heat Race ran caution free and Glenn had ten  short laps to work on the cars in front of him. He took 4th on lap 4 and 3rd on lap 5 and maintained his progress at the checkered flag. Using the race also to gain more information for some necessary changes for the upcoming Feature.

Glenn also took some time out to participate in the Fan Appreciation night.  He brought the car down on the track and took some time to talk to and sign  autographs for the large crowd of Lake Erie Speedway fans who came out to support him as well as the other drivers who race at Lake Erie Speedway. Glenn Jr. would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all the race fans who stopped by to pick up an autograph card and say hello. He really appreciates all of your support in the stands each week.

The feature race began with Glenn Jr. and the #32 Snow King/Gault Heating Ford Late Model in the 9th position. First caution flag was displayed on lap 4 and Glenn had aready taken over the 8th place.  Glenn Gault Sr. checked in with Glenn Jr. for the handling of the car and he responded that it was too tight, making it hard to turn.  Back to racing and back to work until the next caution on lap 11.  Even with the problem of the car continuing to be too tight and not turning, Glenn was moving forward now occupying the 5th position.

Green flag , now with a single file restart  and ran green until lap 24.  Glenn maintained 5th place.  At the green and back to racing Glenn continued a battle that he had been working on for the 4th position with the #5 car. Racing side by side around the track and putting on his traditional show for the fans to get the position.  Glenn almost had the position when another caution was displayed on lap 26 placing him back behind the #5.  Back to green Glenn resumed racing for the 4th place. On lap 30 the #5 and Glenn got into one another and sent Glenn sliding toward towards the center of the track in turn 2. Glenn kept the wheels turning and lost just a few positions. Caution came out for an unrelated incident in turn 4 on lap 32. Now with just 8 laps to go, Glenn was back to 8th and reporting that he was losing his power steering. So to make the most of what he  had, he gave it all at the green flag for those remaining laps. Only one other caution broke it up on lap 37. Glenn gained one position finishing 7th at the green flag racing hard  for 6th position with #27 of Hennessy.

It was a hard earned top 10 finish and well deserved for Glenn and the team. You can see them next at Lake Erie Speedway Saturday June 14th working hard and racing again for the win at the track.
