Glenn Gault Jr. and the #32 Late Model racing team pulled into Holland Speedway on Saturday for the Budweiser 100.  Weather was great for racing this time. Blue skies and mid 70’s for practice and the Heat races. Glenn Jr was assigned the 6th position in the first of three Heat races. Ten cars were to set the field in the twelve lap Heat Race.  After battling for position and racing with everything the car would give him, Glenn Jr was as high as 5th on lap 2 and finished in 7th at the checkered.

The crew went to work on some adjustments for the feature. After the positions for the feature were finished being set and redrawn Glenn Jr. had drawn the pole position to start the race.

The 100 lap Feature began under cool moonlit skies with Glenn Jr on the pole and a battle to stay there racing hard with the second place competitor. If you are longstanding fan of the Glenn Jr. and the team then you know that the this driver is smart enough to know that the race is not won on the opening laps of a race even if you are sitting first in line. Glenn Jr. raced cleanly with the traffic as they battled for position and as he worked with the handling of his car and the changed conditions on the track. Slipping back into 4th by lap 16 on the caution they entered the pits for some adjustments for Glenn. At the green flag restart Glenn was 27th and ready to work his magic on the cars in front of him.  After another quick caution and restart on Lap 20 he got his chance. Charging from 19th on lap 23 to 14th on lap 32. Still setting his sights on the cars in front of him he moved into 10th  on lap 56. The car was very fast. Glenn Jr. kept his firm focus  on the field of cars in front him until that focus was inturrupted by the brakes. Severe brake problems on the car caused Glenn to pull in to the pit area on lap 80 for the remainder of the race.

I guess if the fans of the #32 can take away one thing from this it would be this piece of good advice….you can’t let one bad moment spoil a bunch of good ones. The car was very fast, our driver is the best and most experienced there is so you know they can’t hold the # 32 out of Victory Lane for long. The # 32 Team led by Glenn Gault Sr and with Ken Tanner and Brian Smusz on the pit crew are headed to Delaware Speedway for some more racing this Labor day weekend Sunday Aug 31st.  So as Harry Gant once said “When today’s race is over its over. The only one that matters is the one thats coming up.”  Check back for the race results from Delaware Speedway in Ontario as they become available.

Glenn Jr. and the team once again headed to Lake Erie Speedway for some NASCAR Whelen Series racing in two 30 lap features.

Glenn started out the first feature in the 11th position. The first caution came on lap 5 and Glenn had the 12 spot. One lap later the yellow flag waved again as Glenn needed to get on the brakes hard to avoid an incident happening right in front of him. Glenn took the green again from 9th and without any further cautions through lap 30 he held on to his position and finished in 9th. Glenn brought the car back in and the team went to work on some more adjustments for the second feature.

Glenn was assigned to start from the 9th position in the second feature. The race was green for one lap and the yellow flag waved for the #21 that was dumping fuel on the track. The rest of the race went caution free and Glenn drove his car for all it was worth taking the 6th spot on lap 6 and 5th on lap 7. He had drove up to the third position by lap 14 and was clear and pulling away. Driving hard every lap he took the checkered flag in third.

So with only one week left in NASCAR Whelen Series Points at Lake Erie Glenn Jr and the team will work hard on the car to come back for Championship night to race hard for the win.  Check back here for the updates on the race or come on out and support the team because Glenn Jr. always appreciates seeing his fans in the stands.

Addendum:  Due to disqualifcation of the winner during post race inspection Glenn Jr. was awarded a second place finish in the second feature on August 16th.

Feature 8/9/2008

Feature 8/9/2008

Glenn was scheduled to race at Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday August 9th for double features but once again as was the case several other times this year mother nature cut the night short. Not before the team got one 30 lap feature under the checkered flag. Glenn started the first feature from the 10th position. At the drop of the green flag Glenn went to work to move towards the front of the pack. However with a loose race car he had alot of work to do. Glenn held  the 7th spot for a few laps from lap 2 through 5 and by the first caution on lap 12 was in ninth. After the green flag he moved back a few spots to 13th which is where he was at the only other caution on lap 28. In the 2 remaining laps in the race he took back those spots to finish strong in the tenth spot with a car that was truly a handful and a test of his skill.

So the team will go back and get to work and you can bet that you will see them again this weekend racing for the win “At The Track.”

Motordrome

Glenn began racing early this weekend on Friday at Motordrome.  Qualifying for the 100 lap event went uneventfully and Glenn was set for a chance to draw for the pole after his 10 lap Heat race.

That he did and so the #32 started in the first position. After the drop of the green flag Glenn really had his hands full with the car. Both the the driver and the team gave the car everything they had in the way of adjustments during the race to keep the car competitive and on the lead lap. but on lap 40 Glenn decided the smarter option was to pull the car off the track and out of the way keeping it in one piece for another race.

So the night ended early at Motordrome for Glenn and the team but hopes were high heading on the way back towards home that Lake Erie would bring a better night.

Glenn Gault Jr during his Heat Race 8/2/2008 LES

Glenn Gault Jr and the team were at Lake Erie Speedway Saturday for the NASCAR Whelen Series racing. It seems Mother Nature has had her eye on the race circuit this year and rained out the main feature. They did get the scheduled Heat race in and Glenn finished 4th. After the heat race Glenn came back in and the team went to work with a multitude of changes for the car to give him better handling for the feature. Glenn made it all the way to the line up in the pits and while waiting for his feature to take the track the rains came ending the on track activity for the night.

Glenn and the team will be racing again on Friday  August 8th at Motordrome and then again at Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday August 9th. So lets see your orange and black, come on out support the team and see the them in action or check back here for the highlights as Glenn Jr races for the win “At The Track.”
