What used to be known as Lancaster Raceway Park is now Dunn Tire Raceway Park.  Just the name is different, the track is still the same, a  1/2 mile, asphalt, oval in which the front stretch also doubles as a drag strip and adds an extra degree of difficulty to the driving skill needed to navigate this track at consistent high speed. Glenn Jr likes this track and looks forward to this race.

Second practice took place late Saturday afternoon and was very productive for the team as one of Glenn’s sponsors AFCO Racing shocks along with Bob and Shorty were at the track with their truck of supplies to work directly with the team and make some crucial adjustments as Glenn communicated what the car felt like on the track.   They were a wonderful addition to the team and were a welcome addition this weekend. Initial practice had taken place on Friday afternoon and was also productive. Following practice was some down time while other divisions ran their races and then the Late Models were up.

Glenn was set in the 6th position in the first Heat race with 15 laps as the scheduled distance.  A false start on the first drop of the green flag brought the field back to pace lap speed for a second green flag start.  Glenn Jr began to work on the traffic ahead of him and on lap 2 had 5th. Unfortunately Glenn had more problems to deal withthan the traffic ahead and behind him. He also was feeling something withthe car that did not feel quite right. By lap 5 it was concerning him enough at full speed that he dropped back through the field and eventually brought him  to a stop in turn 3.  This brought out a caution flag.  Glenn cautiously brought the car back around the track and behind the field.  Glenn had discussed the situation with his father and the decison had been made to stay at the back out of the way to see what the car was doing. During the same time the track officials made a ruling to throw a black flag at Glenn Jr for bringing out the caution. Glenn Jr. remained on the track for several laps  while the situation was trying to be passed on to the officials but the decision stood and Glenn had to leave the track and was disqualified from the Heat race.   The race director spoke with Glenn Jr at the conclusion of racing for the night and Glenn Jr will be allowed to race in the main feature.

The main feature was set for Sunday Sept.28th at 1pm but unfortunately rain postponed the race to Sunday October 5th.  A practice session is set to run prior to the race and racing will again be set for 1 PM. Check back for updates about the team “At The Track.”

Glenn Gault Jr and his dad Glenn Gault Sr. pulled into to Lake Erie Speedway ready to race but wait…this is mid September and a Wednesday afternoon?  Yes thats right racing in the middle of the week and what race fan would not like that. This was a special nonpoints race nevertheless,  the 2003 Lake Erie Speedway Championship  holder Glenn Jr. and his dad made the drive from Hubbard OH for  all the fans of the #32.

Two practice sessions were held and Glenn Jr went out in both sessions. Adjustments were made as the sun set and the track cooled. Glenn was set to start 12th out of 13  cars in a 35 lap heat. Caution was set for lap 15 where they would invert a set amount of cars.

At the drop of the green flag Glenn Jr began working on the traffic in front of and around him. By lap nine he had moved into 7th and he held that position at the scheduled competion caution which was the first caution of the race. Back to green and Glenn went to work by lap 19 he had moved into 5th. Next  caution flag was flying unfortunately on lap 20 for several cars one of which was Glenn Jr.  An unfolding incident in front of him sent cars across the track in front of him  and not enough room to avoid it.

So the night for Glenn ended early at lap 20.

Thanks to all the fans of Glenn Gault Jr who came out to the track on a weeknight for some racing. He certainly appreciates your support. Please continue to check back here for your racing updates about Glenn Jr and the team “At The Track”.

Glenn Gault Jr pulled the racing hauler with the #32 Late Model racing team into Lake Erie Speedway for the final points night of racing.  With some cool rainy weather pulling out of the area earlier in the day by the time practice ended the sun was breaking through and  blue skies and a stunning sunset was in progress. Glenn Jr felt pretty confortable with the car following practice and and was posting some very fast lap times.

Glenn took the track for the final heat race of the season starting out in the 7th position.  Glenn raced hard in the short 12 lap heat and finished in the 6th position at the checkered flag.

Going into the 40 lap feature Glenn was set to start 7th.  Green flag racing went for 4 laps before the field of cars was slowed for a car dumping some fuel onto the track. Glenn restarted 8th on lap 5 racing as hard as the car would allow he moved as high as 6th on lap 10 and was 7th at the next caution on lap 34.  Back to green Glenn held on with all he had and brought the car home in 8th at the checkered with a car that had  failing brakes.  This ends the points for the year and Glenn Jr unofficially will be finishing in 3rd

Most race car drivers aren’t happy unless they are the ones standing in Victory Lane with the trophy and the win because well, ultimately thats the goal. However success is also being happy with yourself.  Speaking as someone who was with this team all year long I can honestly say  that although there is no championship trophy sitting on the mantle for 2008 for Glenn Jr and the team, they  as well as the fans have so much to be proud of and celebrate. Its still a podium finish for the team and so a big thanks to Glenn Jr and the team for another awesome year of racing.

Through the fall you can always check back here for any updates on Glenn Jr and the team and as always any updates on racing At The Track.

Glenn Gault Jr finished off a long weekend of racing over the Labor Day weekend with a swing through Canada and a stop at Delaware speedway for the APC 300. However with brake problems ending his race early at Holland speedway on Saturday and a spindle breaking during lap 5 of the main feature on Sunday, which sent his tire air borne and him into the wall, Glenn Jr is hoping for a strong run to finish off the season at Lake Erie Speedway this Saturday. Gates are open at 5pm so help bring the “Orange and Black Attack” to the stands and come out and support the driver of the #32 Late Model Racing team as well as see some short track racing at its best.

Word has been recieved that the team safely made it back home from Canada. Big thanks to Jessica for the update on the Canada race.

Glenn Jr. did well in the qualifying session but apparently got collected in an  accident during the first 50 lap race of the event. The team hustled and got the car in race condition before the next green flag.  Glenn started the race but by lap 5 Glenn brought out the caution when a unexpected failure on the car caused a tire to come loose and he hit the wall. Luckily he was ok and was able to exit the car safely but the car was not able to continue the race.

Do not worry though the team is hard at work and Glenn Jr has his last race at Lake Erie set for this Saturday.  So make your date free now to come out and see Glenn race on Championship night at Lake Erie Speedway or check back here for the updates and news about the team “At The Track.”
