One week late Glenn Jr finally took to the track for the rain delayed US Open at Dunn Tire Raceway Park. It was a very cool day in early October with plenty of threatening clouds passing over from  nearby Lake Erie but no rain this time and none in the forecast.  Two practices had taken place prior to race time and  Glenn Sr and the crew had the car ready for the drop of the green flag.

Glenn Jr. started the 75 lap race 22nd in the 24 car field and it didn’t take long for the first caution flag which came on lap 3. Glenn had advanced into the 19th spot. Back to green and Glenn went to work.  By the next caution on lap14 he held 14th in he running order. Lap 15 slowed the field down one more time for a caution and Glenn had gained one more spot holding 13th. Green flag waved and the race was on for some good steady racing for several laps until lap 51 once again the yellow was displayed. At this time Glenn Jr. pulled into the pit area to change a left ftont tire that was going down.

Back to green Glenn Jr. restarted 20th. By lap 63 Glenn had 5 of those spots back and was working on more. Glenn Jr  made some quick work to avoid a wreck on lap 73. Going back to green from that caution a much larger accident occurred that fortunately did not involve Glenn Jr. and did not have any serious injuries as a throttle hung on the # 2 car sending it into the foam barriers in turn 2 and up on its side before it came to a stop. This caused an extended red flag for the clean up.

After the track was cleared the green flag once again flew for the remaining 3 laps. Glenn Jr raced hard to the finish and he took the Checkered Flag in 9th.

So once again the crew did a great job to give Glenn Jr a car that he could charge through the field  and pass so many cars with at a track that is not that easy to pass at. As well as some quick thinking by Glenn Jr to avoid several close calls on the race track to get a top ten finish.

So continue to check back as we bring you the news from the team and the track.
