Glenn Gault Jr. pulled into to Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday May 30th and he gave fans in the stands no need for the seats they bought during the Late Model Feature while battling for the the third place finish.
Glenn missed opening night at the track due to a conflicting race with the Main Event Series so when he pulled in early on Saturday with the #32, he was more than ready to make up for lost time. Practice went well and Glenn Jr made just a few adjustments on the car during the early practice as well as in the late afternoon practice.

Glenn was set to go out in the 3rd Heat race and started in the 3rd position with 10 laps to the checkered flag. The heat race ran yellow flag free and Glenn Jr. steadily worked his way into 2nd on lap 2 and then carefully worked on the leader taking the lead in lap 7 and keeping it through the checkered flag.
Heat race
The field for the feature was set to be drawn by pill draw. Jessica, Glenn’s girlfriend, pulled the spot for Glenn and pulled the pole position. So with a great starting spot and possible rain as the only problem looming on the horizon Glenn Jr. and the team got ready for the feature. The Feature got underway shortly before 10 pm under overcast skies fending off rain that was circling the area. When the green flag dropped Glenn Jr. and the # 56 raced side by side for the first 3 laps, coming down to a toss up to decide who lead each of those 3 laps…only the computer scoring would have been able to tell and that was reported to be having issues prior to the race. Glenn Jr. took a decisive lead by lap 8 and lead through lap 15 when the #56 had returned and now gained the first position with Glenn dropping in behind him. Three laps later the caution flag flew for the first time for the #23. This was followed by a restart and another caution for the #99x. Glenn restarted in 2nd on lap 19 and fell back to 3rd on lap 24 while battling with the #9 and the # 56 for the lead. Glenn Jr. held firmly onto the third spot and battled all the way to the checkered flag for the second spot. It was a good strong finish for Glenn Jr and the team. The team is looking forward to more good racing in the weeks to come and this was only the beginning.
Next Friday June 5th is the next race for Glenn in the Main Event series at Xenia , Ohio and then Lake Erie Speedway on Saturday June 6th will be the next NASCAR Whelen Series race. So come out to see the race or check back here for more news from the track.
The Main Event Series continued with their second race of the season on Saturday May 23rd at Midvale Speedway. Glenn Jr again with a strong showing qualifying in 7th place and starting 2nd after inversion. Glenn started in second led a few laps early but dropped back to second and held it firmly throughout numerous restarts and cautions until brake problems ended the race early around lap 45.
Although the night ended early the day was a long one. It began early in afternoon with practice that took place in hot and sunny conditions. The car seemed good and Glenn took it out for several runs to try some different things during the allotted time. The car was fast and he felt pretty good about the qualifying sessions.
Qualifying was set for 5Pm and Glenn Jr was set to go out 18th. Glenn ran two clean smooth laps and the lap of record was 14.136 giving him 7th.
The invert was 8 and so he was now outside pole on the field.
Glenn Jr starts outside pole
The green flag dropped around dusk with Glenn Jr outside pole. Track conditions were still hot and slick and after two laps the first of many cautions waved. Glenn was holding onto second but getting loose on the restarts which came in succession as it was difficult to make a full lap before the next caution would wave. On lap 4 Glenn and the leader brought out the caution. Ruling sent the leader to rear and Glenn had the lead.
The race continued to be a series of short runs of just a lap or half lap before the next caution would wave. Glenn continued to hold the lead until the race went back green on lap 8 and managed to run about 5 laps where Glenn slipped back into second place and held on. Through the first forty laps around 15 caution flags waved. Glenn Jr held either the first of second position throughout that time. Some failing front brakes finally became too much to handle however and he began to slip back through the field and was in 5th at lap 45. Not wanting to be the cause of yet another caution in this yellow flag filled race, Glenn Jr pulled the car down the chute and off the track shortly before lap 50 or so.
So although the driver was exhausted and as disappointed as the team that the car didn’t last out the race, you can be sure of one thing…they will be back. Next race for the Main Event Series is Friday June 5th at Xenia Ohio. Glenn Jr is back to NASCAR Whelen Series racing at Lake Erie Speedway next Saturday May 30th. The summer has just begun and we won’t give up. Check back here for updates from the track.
Glenn opened the racing season this year at Angola Motor Speedway in Angola Indiana with the first race in the Main Event Racing series. Glenn Jr. qualified himself into the race on time but problems with the car ended the night early.
Practice took place on Friday and went well despite the rain and cool conditions that held up the process. Glenn felt good in the car after just few laps and the car was fast.
In qualifying on Saturday, Glenn laid down a lap of 14.026. Good enough to start him in 13th in the main feature.
Going into the race Glenn felt good that he had a fast car and was ready to race. When the green flag flew on Saturday night under the lights at Angola Motor Speedway though Glenn had his hands full on lap one with one tight race car that he had to chase up the banking on all corners of the track. This track has walls for out of bounds on turns one and two however in turns three and four its a long grassy slide up and over if you miss the corner. With a caution on lap 3 Glenn had slid back to 20th but by the caution on lap 10 Glenn decided that the car was way too much to handle in traffic and brought it in to the pit area. After taking a look at the car it would take too many laps to correct the issue and Glenn was out for the night.
So a promising start and a long way to go so check back throughout the season for more reports from the track.
